There will be no Band Quest in 2011. However Unified Sounds will still be holding the Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses heats as usual. More information can be found in the Bloodstock Metal 2 The Masses (Kent/Essex/Brighton) section.
Awarding Great Bands is a key focus and we have our eyes wide open and looking for attributes that most band competitions miss, due to their 'winner only' mentality. The very nature of Band Quest is to vet and develop the artist whilst building the artist–promoter relationship. We extend all the opportunities we create and absorb, offering them to the best bands on merit, those with marketable potential and especially reward the bands with a hard work ethic. Band Quest has an ethos of 'always in promotion' for the bands that feature on this platform.
With the invigorating rallying cry of 'Accelerating Potential' the intent is to give bands a playing and working focus and offer a balanced process of evolving opportunities twinned with an artist's own evolution. Band Quest 2010 will create a higher plateau of bands that will feature in Band Quest - Cutting Edge. These bands are those who have met criteria to place them on a higher tier and optionally position them by virtue of measured success outside of the Band Quest competition section. These are seen as flagship artists who through our backing will receive higher resonating shows and in return offer to headline local focus shows, finals and finale shows.
Cutting Edge bands can look forward to all the benefits without having to face the task of playing in heats and further rounds, although this does mean the prize pool is not on offer to them. However we will look to provide high level profile shows and showcase opportunities which have proven in the 2009 campaign to be excellent events.
The cutting edge bands are required to pay the same deposit and agree to fulfil 1 show with The Band Quest 2010 campaign, which will be offered as a guest band at a Final or Finale show and be presented with a Major City Showcase opportunity. When competition bands are not positioned as natural selection for the better opportunities that we are offered, the cutting edge bands will be the the ones we turn to first. We are in discussion with several well knows National Festivals who may wish for high quality acts that meet a a prerequisite criteria. We believe in ensuring these possibilities are pursued and not wasted.
